Maddy became an indispensable part of EPI in 2010, starting as a working student and quickly earning a place in our hearts. In 2012, she accepted a position as my intern, working directly with me in all aspects of horse development and heading up the kids’ camp program each summer.
Maddy is now offering after-school lessons for youth aged 6 to 16 in our youth program. The EPI Youth Program emphasizes staying safe and having fun with horses. She loves sharing the principles and skills of horsemanship and seeing the benefits filter into other aspects of the kids’ lives.
Maddy began riding horses when she was 7 years old and got a horse of her own at 13. Her dedication to horsemanship never wavered through junior high and high school; for her senior project, she started a 4-year-old warmblood under saddle.
As the oldest of four sisters (with just one older brother), Maddy comes by her teaching talents naturally. She incorporates all kinds of toys and games into her lessons to keep things fun for students and horses alike.
